KSW and the double-bind
« on: October 05, 2019, 09:43:45 am »
From keeping Scientology Working:

"If you can’t graduate them with their good sense appealed to and wisdom shining, graduate them in such a state of shock they’ll have nightmares if they contemplate squirreling...…….

When somebody enrolls, consider he or she has joined up for the duration of the universe—never permit an “open-minded” approach. If they’re going to quit let them quit fast. If they enrolled, they’re aboard, and if they’re aboard, they’re here on the same terms as the rest of us—win or die in the attempt. Never let them be half-minded about being Scientologists. "

When I first started doing TROM I had a terrible terrible time sorting out my identity regarding Scientology.  I was auditor trained and a course supervisor as well some time ago.  KSW was like the ten commandments for me.  But now I am doing this other thing that violates KSW.

I still like Scientology technology. I don't agree with every last word, but I still practice it in my daily life.  But the Church itself has let me down in a lot of ways, a very personal story for another time.

So I went around in circles in my mind, "Am I a Scientologist or not?"  and could not come up with a clear answer for myself on that point, and spun on this for quite awhile.

I don't know if any of you have experienced any of this yourself, but if you have, like me, here's something from the book "Bond Breaking" where Dennis talks about a particular type of double bind (that is a computation in the mind which says, "If A, then B" and also, "If B, then A" making both A and B equivalent in the mind, and eliminating the freedom of choice for there to be neither A nor B, or be both A and B)

"The double bind, the Catch 22 can show up in a number of guises. A person can come up to you and say “in this matter you're either with us or you're against us” now that sounds innocuous enough but as a matter of fact it's a double bind. He is handing you a double bind on a plate.
If you agree with this situation that you're either with him or against him then you are in the double bind. And you've trapped yourself because when he says you're either with us or against us he is denying you the freedom to be both with him and against him, and he is denying you the freedom to be neither with him nor against him.
He is insisting that you be either with him and not against him or against him and not with him. Follow? That's the double bind, the double bind situation, and one to be wary of."

KSW pretty much sets up a "for or against" situation, or "squirrel or Scientologist" situation.  It also raises the "seriousness" or "importance" of the matter to a stellar level. It takes a science, a technology, and reduces it to something that involves a "loyal" or "traitor" duality. These things have nothing to do with science.

I feel bad if I attack the Church, because the Church is not 100% bad.  I don't want to support the Church because they are not 100% good either.  And while nothing is 100% of either, I have never found something so well balanced in good and evil as the Church (I am talking about the Church, not the tech itself).  So it's an insanity particle, not good enough to be called good, not bad enough to be called bad, that yet insists you are either for it or against it once you become aware of who they are and what they do.  Or to put it better, now that you "know Scientology is the only valid science of the mind" you either practice Scientology or nothing at all.  Because if you practice something else, knowing the "truth" then you are certainly against Scientology.

It's only aberrative if you buy into it.  And I did.  I am sure many of you here bought into this as well at one time in your life.  Reading "bond breaking" and examining this can bring some relief on the subject.

I don't have to be a Scientologist to use Scientology any more than I have to be a carpenter to use a hammer, or that by my use of a hammer I am now a carpenter.

COS = freedom factory for $. ALLOT OF MONEY .  I paid $850 to walk outside and spot something bright on the sunshine rundown . That was all it took. I was the Examiner of a class 4 org. at the time. I " blew " staff omg.

There nothing worse than ripping off people who are asking for help with the everyday hardships and misunderstanding of life.

I paid $80 for a comm course that changed my life forever  It was the  " hooker  "
I was hooked but not that hooked. It was only a matter of time. It didn't take long.

The MAster at arms came a knockin on my door the next day to bring  me back in .

Like that was going to change my mind ? I never paid the $850  nor anything for many hours of  staff member auditing , In rd , DCSI etc etc.

Only the comm course and Purification RD came out of pocket and  it was way overpriced. I loved the Comm course and going exterior. the EP for ot6 at the time was going exterior so I felt like I got a good deal for $80 bucks. Still do too.
