Some importances are "negative"
« on: November 19, 2017, 06:03:02 am »
I just realized that certain things matter quite a bit to me but in a negative way. For instance, I do not like the cold. I do not like crowded cities. I do not like pollution. Now, if I were doing RI, the only importances I would create would be the opposite of those --- I would create warm weather, wide open spaces with clean air.

The reason this is important is that I am faced with a crucial life decision. And I realized that the way to make the decision is to figure out what maximizes what is important to me while minimizing the things that are important in a negative way.

As Life would have it, it seems that things are perfectly balanced between what I really like and what I really hate --- if I deal with the cold, crowded pollute spaces, then I can get a job with a lot of money. I dont deal with the cold, crowded, polluted spaces, then I am faced with a much harder path to getting a lot of money.

ALL importanes are negative , not just some . The vanishment of importance  is the vanishment of mental mass aka mental weight .

"The exercises from Level 2 onwards tend to dissolve mental mass at an accelerating rate. Thus, the exercise is at variance with his compulsion to be surrounded by mass (importance). This is a very real dilemma, and there is only one final solution to it:
The being must replace the old mass (importance) with mass of his own creation.
In this way he can do the exercises which vanish the unwanted mental mass without compulsively pulling in around himself further unwanted mental masses to fill the vacuum so produced. In the final instance this is the only way that he will ever ‘let go of’ his mind. While he is in the frame of mind of needing importances, he will never permit one to vanish until he is assured that he can easily replace it with another.
Early on the being is like a prisoner who has been incarcerated in a cell for all of his life. He has come to believe that he needs the walls of his prison, and if suddenly freed will demand to be locked up once more; failing this he will rush into the nearest room, slam the door after him, and hide. This mechanism is well known by prison authorities who have to deal with long-term prisoners; it is one of the hidden benefits of the parole system.
Right now you are like such a long-term prisoner regarding your own mental mass. You’ve come to believe that you need it, and so will pull in round yourself more mental mass to replace that which the exercises causes to vanish.
Thus, we have to repair the importance’s we vanish with self-generated importances or the being will soon get himself into a frightful mess. He will find himself in possession of highly persistent aches and pains he knows not what of, as well as a host of other unpleasant emotions and sensations. This mechanism, if not understood and allowed for, will sooner or later bring any psycho-therapy to a grinding halt. The researcher was thus led to believe that his therapy was of no use; when, in fact, it was working all too well..."

it doesnt say anything about the opposites of importance , so you don't use opposites, you use importances and only importances as per the GM

IF you consider warm weather important for the picnic you are attending in the park next weekend then no problem . GO ahead and use that as an importance.

Mental mass is the importance you are vanishing with TB.  If its not replaced to the same degree that's being vanished , your progress will  come to a grinding halt.

I like to use actual weight and importance at the same time. Not just touching walls or mental mass importance generation , but both Heavy weights and Mental importance 360 degrees around my body while having others do it too.

I know what its like to not balance RI with L5 . Its a mental la la land where anything's possible . Not good.
