The ego thing
« on: November 29, 2014, 04:33:00 am »
Ok, so I had a look at that Ray Kemp video that Colleen had found. I always were curious about these people.
I also read Colleens comment about their ego thing, and that Scio sometimes had a tendency to kind of boost such behaviour.
A very good observation, and it got me thinking.

Because building up an ego is going in the wrong direction casewise, Scio is actually adding new stuff to people's cases.
But this is not a Scio thing, competent people have a tendency to get big egos in every kind of environment.
This just confirms that the church had no solution for this common problem. Aha, another blind spot in the holy TECH    ;D

Well, nothing is holy to me. So here is the ego mechanism and how it works among humans:
It starts with the GE, or the human ape as Dennis used to say. This creature has some social habits that are not very nice.
And one of these is to ignore others to some degree when he feels they are lower status apes, like old or ugly or not smelling "right".
The younger GE's do this a lot, and the spirits in their head don't really think it is very important when they treat older people a bit different.

But the older more experinced (in this lifetime) spirits pick up on this, and start to resent it. Why should they be ignored when they are both competent and experienced?
And they don't know a good way to handle this situation of being disrespected or ignored. They don't know about the ape's old (outdated) social mechanisms.

So instead they start to change their personality to compensate for the recurring situation, they start to point out god things about themselves.
They tell (true) stories about what they have achieved and how cleverly they handled things, and maybe how others respected them   :)
This is called building an ego.

The corny thing is that the younger apes have another social mechanism that makes them feel that boasting apes are low value.
Females feel this thing best, they instantly pick up on boasting or big ego apes. It signals that something is fake. Ego building does not really work.
There are better and more sneaky ways to get around being ignored by the young idiots   ;D
So even when the great stories are true, they will always lead to negative feelings in the GEs around. And those GE feelings are all a spirit really has.
You know, a spirit will only have his body as long as it furnishes sensations and feelings and experiences that the spirit cannot create on his own.

So this is my take on these things. I will now go somewhere else to feed my own ego. It's great to be an old ape..

From one old ape to another old ape you hit the ape right on the head  :-)

The writings in the Tao Te Ching help me a lot with old ape ego issues   :)

Dennis did talk about "the joy of competency" and I do seek competency even at this old age :-)

For example, in ape society it is the elder ape that knows what herbs do what, and it is in the nature of young apes to mimic and have a data hunger until they too become knowledgeable.   Some children have a better relationship with the grand parent than with their own parents.

The old ape, to be worth its salt, needs to have wisdom, competency, patience, and compassion.... I've learned a lot on contemplating on the writings of the Tao Te Ching.
