General Discussion / Re: The subject of reason + complementary postulates

Where does this terminology “Waking state” Dream State” come from?

when operating in agreed upon reality the rules of gravity apply.  when you are imagining a scene you get to make any rules you want and flying around by flapping your arms is perfectly fine till you decide to apply the law of gravity.

increasing your ability to put your attention where you want it for as long as you want it there with no distractions because you have timebroken the distractions is what you want to achieve.  with practice you increase you ability do to this for longer periods of time.  when you can persist on a given task longer than others can you are an exceptional person.  you will never achieve machine like perfection at this because you are a self aware thinking being who likes the sensations generated in games play.  you will persist at a given task as long as necessary for survival then do something else for fun.

Balance means those processes that are left or that were not mentioned.

What is the nature of physical reality? Good question. Hubbard calls it an agreed upon reality which would mean that you and someone else worked together to create it. Dennis states that the matter in this universe is mostly generated as the byproduct of games play therefor not created by anyone. However the objects in your hotel room were fashioned by someone into the shapes you see.
So the next question is are you perceiving what is “actually” there or is the room you see different from the room I would see if i was there so it is a subjective reality.
I haven’t found a test that could verify if apparent reality was the same as some “actual” reality.

I have no talent or inclination to be an auditor so no thanks i won’t monitor a session for pay.

The beauty of TROM is you are the Auditor and the skill you develop at doing it goes with you anywhere you are.

Does TROM work for you? Can you do RI for an hour creating some item that is interesting to you without any distractions being thrown at you by your reactive mind?
If you can do RI with absolutely machine like perfect execution then you have achieved the condition of no change. If however you get bored with creating apples all around you and must switch to something else or fall into a coma then you still have room for improvement in doing TROM.

The goal with TROM processes is to increase you ability to focus your attention on what you are doing now from 5 minutes at a streach to 10 minutes at a streach without having something distract you.  It’s about your ability to persist on a given course despite difficulty.

Level one TROM / Re: R.I. questions.
« on: December 31, 2017, 01:05:48 pm »
The point of RI is to practice putting your attention onto present time. The mechanism is to create things and have others create things and put them around you.

Create stuff that is interesting to you at present.  This will change with time so sometimes you might create money or bags full of money. At other time you might create admiring looks from friends.  You can create some things like individual stones or create a whole scene like a beach or jungle and walk through it.

At night when releasing on the days events i create warm fuzzies all around me (as opposed to cold spiky things). Then with attention in present time and surrounded in a bed of warm soft fuzziness i drift off to sleep.  This works well.

Level one TROM / Re: Have another create something?

In the book “03 Expanding on Level 5” Dennis goes on at lenght on the subject of dissociation where a child creates an invisible friend he can talk to and play with.  If he later forgets he created this invisible friend he will find he cannot get rid of it.

“Have another create something” process is rebuilding your skill and knowledge at creating dissociated beings in your mind. As you redeveloped the skill at creating other entities in your mind you regain control over the ones you created in the past and learn how to get rid of them if they are bothering you.

Dennis points out that it is the Must Be Known personality who has trouble with daemons whispering evil commands.  Must Knows do not have much trouble with body thetans or evil daemons.

In either case the way to “as is” a body thetan or evil daemon on invisible friend is the create lots of them which reduces their importance to zero and they quickly cease to exist or you regain your ability to put your attention on present time and are not bothered by invisible friends.

So who or what to create for RI is you can create any being you want here.  You can create a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat or Merlin saying an incantation or a farmer growing a radish for you or just a non specific being at a point in space outside of you that creates whatever you want to create for the RI process.

Dennis states that the object of TROM is to move you attention out of the past and into the present.  This ability is to develop control of where you put your attention. It’s like pointing a flashlight in a dark room.  You can put the beam any where you like.
With TROM the exercises all have you putting your attention on the present moment directly. This is what RI does. You can only create something in the present moment so the creative process is one of bringing your attention into the present moment and creating something.
The balance of the processes in TROM are for finding emotionally charged incidents in the past that pull your attention out of the present and by repeatedly looking at them reduce their charge so you can put your attention on the present moment in time.
All physical objects are in the present moment so grabbing them is the mechanical way of putting your attention on the present moment.

Contagion with opposing postulates happens all the time.  The school system is designed to produce “good “ citizens who go to work and pay taxes because it is the right thing to do.  But if you see that the government is corrupt then paying taxes is the wrong thing to do.
A kid falls in love with a certain girl but she rejects him and he decides he is no good.
A team has a loosing season and decides that they are second rate players.

All of these are contagion by opposing postulates. Life is full of them.

First you must broaden you understanding of games. Every interaction between people or groups can be games when their postulates are in conflict and there are games within games within games.

So your professional teams are in a game and at the same time the individual players and in the game for personal financial gain and the sensation generated by game play and two game players in the professional game my be in competition to be the most valuable player on the team etc.etc.etc.

As a game player gets very skilled at playing a game he gets bored as there is little chance of loss so he play half heartedly and gives the opponent a increase chance to win.  You have probably seen a movie where a bully is so strong he toys with the kid he is picking on.  The kid gets in a lucky punch and hits the bully in the balls thus winning the match.

The bully invited a loss by not playing the game to the utmost of his skill.

Hi Supreme
It’s very important to define reason and reasonable to understand this statement.  Dennis gets into these definitions in the book “01 Insanity Point”

To give you the short answer to your question, reason is sanity and reasonable is what is in agreement with reality. So a person who thinks he is a bird and steps off the 3rd story ledge while flapping his arms will crash into the ground.  He has lost his sanity or lost his reason and is doing what is unreasonable or not in agreement with the law of gravity.

So reason is what is possible in this reality we share and that defines what is possible or what is reasonable behavior.

A reasonable postulate for me is one that agrees with my understanding of reality. Therefor it complements my understanding of reality.

Theoretically you are correct that blaming someone will not cause them to feel guilty. However i have never seen a person accused of wrongdoing who did not get defensive which indicates they felt at least a smidigeon of guilt.

Not communicating to someone who does not want to recieve a communication is good communication.
Not playing music loud when a house mate has been up all night working and needs sleep is a good communication.

General Discussion / Re: Noticing No More Change and Balancing the process
« on: December 29, 2017, 04:42:04 pm »
Hi MJH
Have you ever watched a movie that really upset you?  That was a change.
Let’s say it was Godzilla and you find every time you think about Godzilla you feel upset, fearful, nauseated etc.

That is the change referred to.

Now if you deliberately run a process of thinking about Godzilla while keeping your attention on the room around you the upset will turn on. You think about Godzilla again and the upset gets less. You think about Godzilla many times and gradually you become blasé about Godzilla.  Eventually you can create Godzillas by the dozen and do this happily all day long.  That is no change.

On question 2.  Part of what you are doing in TROM is learning to focus you attention on specific things. You focus on the past item then focus on the present time item etc.

Keeping the process simple in my experience works best. A two step process works better than a three step process.
One of the good things about TROM is that you can experiment with how you apply it to your case at will.  If you really screw up and tie yourself in mental knots you can run RI and get yourself back on an even keel.

Sincerely
Pete

General Discussion / Re: What is significance?
« on: December 29, 2017, 04:26:35 pm »
The Dictionary Definition works:
noun
1.
importance; consequence:
the significance of the new treaty.
2.
meaning; import:
The familiar place had a new significance for her.
3.
the quality of being significant or having a meaning:
to give significance to dull chores.

A significance in TROM is whatever is important to you.
